Hey There, Welcome back! If you enjoy this post, be sure you subscribe to my newsletter to get all my blog posts delivered straight to your inbox.
Do you visit blogs, leave comments or syndicate the information to the social sites, but don’t join their Google Friend Connect ?? OR…
…are you a member of Google Friend Connect but haven’t added your links to your settings?
You are missing out BIG TIME, and this post is especially for you!
Google Friend Connect is a free, online service by Google that allows users on the Internet to connect with their friends on different websites.
Click HERE to watch a 1 minute overview video about it.
Google Friend Connect is somewhat like a guest book, letting the site owner know you stopped by to visit, but it can be so much more, such as another way of generating traffic to your site.
Putting it on your website or blog now, in conjunction with learning how to properly use it to your advantage will enable you to grow your site. The people that join your site will be very targeted to what you are offering so begin building relationships with them.
It will also build credibility for your blog…
…people tend to follow the crowd.
First off, you must sign up with Google Friend Connect if you haven’t already , or you can just sign in with an existing Google, Yahoo or AIM account. Its a simple process to set up.
After you have added the application to your blog, be sure to ‘join your site’ thru the friend connect gadget you just added (it should appear in your right sidebar)…this will allow you to manage your settings from your blog.
Now click on your picture (you should have uploaded one) in the Friend Connect Box and sign in. Go into the settings option and add your social media links and especially your blog link. Its very important that you do this. Here’s why…
…when someone visits a blog that you have joined, (we will call it BlogA for argument sake) and they want to check out some of the people that have joined BlogA, they just might happen to click on your picture. When they do, it will display all your info…
…your blog site, your social sites and info about YOU! They can hop over to your site with the click of a button!
If your site is NOT listed, well… you have just lost a visitor!
I can’t tell you how many times I have tried to check out someones blog and they didn’t have their link listed in their friend connect. They are truly missing out!
Make it as easy as possible for people to find you. People want quick information. If they click on your picture and no blog link is listed, they don’t want to jump thru hoops to find you…
…they will just move on to someone else!
Another great advantage is…
…people that join your site can choose to receive newsletters from you thru Google Friend Connect. You can send them information such as notifying them when you post a new blog article or anything else you would like to share with them.
Put this tool to work for you right now. Take a minute and join my Google Friend Connect Gadget, if you haven’t already, so you can start generating traffic back to your site from all the sites you’ve joined. Be sure that you have added your blog link.
Leave me a comment below and tell me about one of your traffic generating strategies. I would love to hear about it.
Help me spread the good word! If you enjoyed this post, please be sure to share it with the buttons below, to all your friends on Facebook and Twitter. I’m sure they will thank you for it.
To all your Success,

Great post Sharon, discovered it on Digg :]
But what really makes Google Friend Connect important is that it integrates in the Google social network and that means Google Reader and better yet Google Buzz.
I would suggest adding Buzz buttons to the site here, and start building a Buzz profile. I have had great success with Buzz in the last few months and am using it as my main site for social connections.
Be sure to let me know when your Buzz tab is ready so I can follow you there, you have my main email address in this comment, don’t want to spam your blog with links so just let me know when you are Buzzing.

Great information Sharon! I just took the time to update my profile while reading this post! There is a lot of value here, in the little things that we sometimes miss. I will be sure to share this post with others too.
You asked us to share one of our traffic generating secrets… for me it optimizing Youtube videos. Hardly anyone is doing this. I just created a blog post and free video about the topic.
Wishing you great success. The blog looks great!!

This is a great place for you to be the expert ’cause you’re SO right – it’s very mis-understood and not used the way it might be.
Sweet!
