Hey There, Welcome back! If you enjoy this post, be sure you subscribe to my newsletter to get all my blog posts delivered straight to your inbox.
I recently read an awesome newsletter from pro blogger, Yaro Starak. about Interlinking your blog posts and how it can increase your traffic. As bloggers, our ultimate goal is to get as many eyeballs on our site as we can, and by implementing this strategy, you can receive some nice traffic benefits…
… if it is done properly.
SO WHAT IS INTERLINKING?
To put it in really simple terms, you should start to think of your blog as a spider web…
… with each post internally linking to another post on your blog.
You control your blog site, which in turn means that you control the internal linking structure of it.
Interlinking posts within your blog has a lot of advantages in terms of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) factor.
I’m sure that you want the search engines to rank every single page of your blog, so, you need to make sure they can find every page.
To understand why interlinking is so important, you must first understand how search engines work.
In order for the Search engines to function, they must make a database of, basically, the internet. Early search engines often required pages to be submitted to them in order to crawl them, but now most pages are found by following links from other pages. Search Engines now use little software programs called “spiders” or “robots” (more commonly called ‘bots’), that crawl around the web following links and “indexing” all the content of web pages.
If your site is internally linked well together, then you make it easy for the spiders to index every page of your blog.
GOOGLE LOOKS AT WEB PAGES, NOT WEBSITES!
Google ranks pages based on how many other pages link to it.
That’s PAGES, not WEBSITES! This is very important to know because when you link one blog entry to another, you are helping each blog post earn better search engine rankings so it will bring in more search traffic.
There is a strategy to linking all your blog posts. Don’t just go and get Link Happy linking posts all over your blog. It’s not going to do much for your traffic and, it willturn away your readers (which is definitely NOT what you want!). However, a few well placed internal linking patterns can be very helpful in the long run. Whenever you write a new post, ask yourself whether or not it would benefit the reader to link it to another of your posts that includes relevant content.
INCREASE YOUR PAGEVIEWS
Even if all this information about search engines and keywords is making your head spin, there is one very simple reason to interlink your blog articles as often as you can – to increase your pageviews.
PageViews are…
… how many individual pages are viewed by each unique visitor to your blog. You want to increase the number of pageviews because that means your readers stay longer at your blog and read more of your content.
By interlinking your posts on your blog in a logical manner, you create a nice pathway for a reader to navigate through your blog from one post to another.
GET YOUR KEYWORDS RIGHT
The most important thing when linking your blog posts together is to choose the right keywords! The keywords you use in the anchor text (the highlighted, clickable text your readers see) help define what search terms that article will rank well for.
For example…
…your blog post is about “Organic Skincare” and you wrote a definition about what ‘Organic’ means .
Every chance you get you should reference back to it in new blog posts. Each time you do this you would use anchor text along the lines of “what does ORGANIC mean”, but be certain to mix it up with variations.
This helps that page rank higher for search phrases like “what does ORGANIC mean”.
If there is one piece of advice you should take away from this post, it is to link back to your previous blog posts regularly. Use logical, anchor text links and don’t worry too much about keywords. It’s easy to get caught up with keywords. So don’t procrastinate by spending too much time and energy worrying about what keywords to use to link your articles. Just do it! If your linking makes sense to you, then it will make sense to the search engines.
As always, the more you practice implementing this strategy, they better you will get at it. Don’t expect results overnight, but in time, you will see an increase in your traffic.
I always enjoy your feedback, so be sure to leave me a comment below. If you have any great tips on increasing blog traffic, I would love to hear about them.
Share this post with all your friends in the social communities. I’m sure they’ll appreciate you for it.
To All Your Success,

Thank you for sharing Sharon!
I was already doing this these days and so it’s no coincidence that I’ve attracted this post.
However, you explain it extremely well, an I was not aware that Search Engines look for PAGES.
I simply thought that it would have been nice to lnk every single post to at least another post. This gives the reader the opporunity to read your blog like a book.A blog is a World that you discover aittle by little. You want to make it is for th reader to do it.
I personally LOVE when I found interlinking on other blogs, beacuse it saves me a lot of time. This will be re-tweeted.
Good sharing!

Awesome post!
Linking is so important. That’s what our tribe does…increase traffic.
Keywords are important too when blogging. It is so easy to forget to put those key words in that are pertinent to your blog message. Like you said, don’t go crazy, but it is important.
